Bangalore, Karnataka

On June 21st, we celebrated a joyful milestone alongside our partner Family Development Services (FDS) and special guests in Bangalore—the graduation of 46 new learners from the Bloom Digital Skills for Life program!

With this cohort, Basis has now equipped 340 learners since launching our first full-time Basis Learning Centre in 2021.

Special Thanks

Our two Blooms in Bangalore would not be possible without the incredible dedication of our trainers and partner staff, who turn up six days a week to facilitate the program and support the learners! Please join me in thanking Nancy, Sindhu, and Kejiya. And ever supporting behind the scenes is FDS' Founder and Director, James Suresh Ambat.

We are now on the cusp of setting up a third Bloom Center with FDS in Whitefield, Bangalore.

Whitefield is a hub of towering office parks and global tech giants—a symbol of modern India’s economic rise. Yet, just beyond the gates of these gleaming buildings, communities in informal settlements struggle to access the very opportunities they see every day. A Bloom Centre here becomes more than a classroom—it becomes a bridge. Graduates will no longer have to watch opportunity pass them by; they’ll walk confidently into careers just steps from their homes, transforming both their futures and their neighbourhoods.

Masinagudi, Tamil Nadu

Meanwhile, just a few hours away in Masinagudi, Tamil Nadu, 20 students from the 8th Standard at Good Shepherd School proudly received their Certificates of Achievement after completing our Digital Literacy eLearning Pathway and Touch Typing course.

And the momentum continues: 40 students from 6th to 8th Standard are now enrolled and working toward completing the full Basis curriculum by the end of the academic year.

Most of these students come from tribal villages deep within the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve—places of incredible natural beauty, but far removed from access to digital education. For them, learning computer skills isn’t just unlikely—it’s nearly impossible. Basis' program is nothing short of a lifeline. It opens a window to a world they’ve never seen, offering not just skills, but a sense of possibility, dignity, and a path toward a future they once thought was out of reach. Without your support, Basis' growth-to-date would have been impossible. We - and our graduates - are filled with gratitude.

As we seek to scale up our program in India and beyond (Nepal and Kenya are two countries that are knocking at the moment), please consider increasing your support, inviting others to support, or, if you are new to our work, make a one-time gift or establish a monthly gift!
